Hi everyone, Its been a while since Ive had the chance to write a blog entry, I have been so busy , i think im painting around 11hrs a day! I said in my last post that I had finally quit my 9-5 job working in a shop to try to follow my dream and become a Concept artist. Well here goes the update. As soon as I quit I spent a bit of quality time studying anything that I felt was a bit lacking in my art knowledge and I then updated my portfolio with some new stuff. It has been awesome getting the time to perfect my skills. As an artist I am always learning I dont think anyone can say they know it all. I just aim to be better than myself each time I try something new.
About a month after quitting my job I started to get a steady flow of commissions and then at the end of March I landed my first contract job as a fully fledged concept artist for a game studio in Leeds. Being able to paint everyday and get paid to do so is really more than I expected and a lot sooner than I could have hoped. That contract is coming to an end soon so I will shortly be looking again for a position.
In the meantime ive also got involved with a great team of Developers at Helm Systems. check them out
[link] I'm creating the environmental concepts for a very cool new game which ill be able to tell you about shortly. (Think of a game as cool as Game of Thrones)
And on another note I just found out today that I have a reprint on Threadless.
[link] So I can so far thoroughly recommend quitting your day job. Or maybe im just having a run of luck. Time will tell.
Thanks everyone for watching and getting in touch!
You can also now find me on Facebook where I post work in progress pics and other stuff.
